Fiscal Court meets...board members appointed
Louisa, KY. -- A pretty standard agenda was heard during The Lawrence County Fiscal Court meeting Tuesday, Feb. 16. Opening prayer was led by County Court Clerk, Chris Jobe, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The meeting was called to order by Judge John Osborne, and the January meeting minutes were approved.
A motion to approve the 2nd Reading of Budget Amendment #3 was made by Magistrate John J. Lemaster and seconded by Magistrate Morris Howard. Bills were approved as was the Treasurer's Report.
The next item on the agenda was to appoint Kimberly Burchett to the Lawrence County Library Board of Trustees. A motion was made by Magistrate Rick Blackburn and seconded by John J. Lemaster.
Barbara Greer was appointed to the Fred M. Vinson Board, with a motion made by Magistrate John J. Lemaster, seconded by Rick Blackburn
The 2nd Reading of the Revised Fee Ordinance on Subscriber Fees for Volunteer Fire Departments was approved, with a motion made by Magistrate John J. Lemaster, seconded by Magistrate Morris Howard.
An Amendment on KIA money was approved which will combine leftover water grant money into one fund.
Bids were then taken on surplus property and were awarded to Charlie Mollette for an Alias Chamber Track Loader for $3,100 and an 8000 Ford Flatbed for $1,700. Betty Shannon received the bid for a 1998 Crown Victoria for $237. Dennis Moore received the bid for a 1997 Dakota pickup truck for $300.
Authorization was given to clerk to advertise for bids on Roadside Cleanup, and the lease renewal with Northeast KY Community Development Community Action Agency was approved.
During the public comments portion of the meeting, Judge Osborne reported that the county is facing cutbacks due to the extremely tight budget set forth by state.
During a judge's conference last week Osborne said "We were told to do more with less money."
